Our Story

St. Paul Lutheran Church is made up of people from diverse backgrounds, a reflection of the truth that the Gospel is for all people. We seek to be a picture of the unity that God's people all over the world have in Christ, and a witness of the Gospel of Christ to our community and to the whole world as a part of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
St. Paul Lutheran Church was formed near Vanderbilt in 1912 as an Evangelical Lutheran Church with the constitution being written in German. Members of the congregation had come from Germany and from Jackson County Indiana. For 40 years, the church was located in "Oak Grove", later known as "Koop Settlement" between El Toro and Vanderbilt. In April 1951, a new church building was erected in Edna, Texas. The parish hall and classroom building were dedicated in 1969, and a preschool added in September 2000.
